Greek Geometric Vase of 2020

  • Inspired by the works of ancient Greek potters, the Hirchfeld Painter, and the Dipylon Painter, this work uses modern media and subject matter to convey many chaotic events of the year 2020.

  • There are a lot of hidden motifs and stories told in the vase’s painting. For example, tiny coronavirus illustrations can be found in many hidden locations and masks are represented in some places as Greek hoplite shields.

  • This vase was created as an exercise in material and texture authoring in Adobe Illustrator and Substance Painter as well as an art submission for my Greek Art History course.

  • The model can be inspected by clicking the play button and pressing ‘f’ to bring it into full screen. Annotations can be toggled via the annotations menu found by clicking on the text in the bottom-center of the window.

Heceta Bench, Florence Oregon

This project is a render of an environment scene based on a photo I took near my temporary residence in Florence, Oregon.

Models were all created and rendered in Blender. Trees were created with the Blender MTree addon, which allows for procedural creation of foliage. Materials were created through photographs and the Substance Suite.
